Spooky Games to play on Halloween!

by: on October 29, 2021  |

Are you looking for a great spooky game to play for Halloween? We have so many great suggestions just for you!

Scooby-Doo Betrayal at Mystery Mansion

Based on the award-winning Betrayal at House on the Hill board game, Betrayal at Mystery Mansion is the mash-up fans have been clamoring for! Play as Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, or Fred as you explore the mansion and its grounds, finding clues, encountering strange occurrences, and maybe even catching sight of a monster! When you find enough clues to learn what’s really going on, that’s when the haunt starts, and one player will switch sides to play the role of the monster! Will you be able to stop them before they carry out their sinister plan?

Horrified

The stakes have been raised. Imagine living in a place so wretched that it’s not plagued by one, two, or even three monsters — but seven of the most horrifying fiends! In Horrified, you’ll come face to face with them all as you work together to rid the town of the maniacal or misunderstood creatures…before it’s too late.

Disney Villainous

In Villainous, each player takes control of one of six Disney characters, each one a villain in a different Disney movie. In this asymmetrical game, each player has their own villain deck, fate deck, player board, and 3D character. Who will be the best villain amongst you?

Whirling Witchcraft

Being a witch is all about wielding powerful magical ingredients — but a witch can wield only so much power before everything blows up in their face. Choose your recipes wisely to clear your workbench and stick others with too much raw material because the first player to overflow their nemesis’ cauldron with enough ingredients wins! In Whirling Witchcraft, you start with a hand of four recipe cards, as well as a number of ingredients on your workbench; ingredients come in five types, and you have a limited number of spaces for each type on your workbench.

Zombicide

Zombicide, the board game, has taken the world by storm with over two million copies sold since its release in 2012 and spawning a cult franchise of cooperative zombie slaying all over the world. In Zombicide, zombies are controlled by the game, while players take on the role of survivors who must co-operate in order to survive and thrive in a world overrun by the bloodthirsty undead. Find guns and gear to take the fight to the zombies through 25 different scenarios linked by a branching story as you pick your way through an infested city.

Gen Con Recap: Part 2

by: on October 4, 2021  |

The following games are the conclusion of our Gen Con recap! These games were played at both Pop-Up Gen Con as well as Gen Con Indy. All of these games are in our game library and most can be rented for 2 days!

Emergency Broadcast- Bicycle

2-4 players, 30+ mins

In Emergency Broadcast, players act as first responders on a mission to secure resources for the residents of their community. Over three rounds, floodwaters rise becoming more treacherous and leaving less available land and resources. The winner is the player who best meets their rescue objectives and earns the most points after three stormy rounds

Dungeon Decorators-SlugFest Games

2-4 players, 1 hour

Dungeon Decorators is a competitive “light euro” tile-drafting strategy game for 2 to 4 players. Select tiles that give you the right combination of chilling chambers, harrowing hallways and dire decorations, then play goal cards to score points. The player who scores the most points achieves victory by impressing the client and setting them on their path to becoming the next legendary evil!

Flourish- Starling Games

1-7 players, 20 mins

Flourish is a beautiful, card-drafting, garden-building game in which players plan and build the garden of their dreams over the course of the growing season. With delightful imagery, players plan their gardens throughout the game to collect the most points. This easy-to-learn game offers both competitive strategy and co-operative game modes, and a 1-7 player count provides a high level of accessibility and replayability. Flourish isn’t currently available to purchase, but you can try it from our Library!

Galaxy Trucker- Czech Games

2-4 players, 30 mins

In the fast and goofy family game Galaxy Trucker, players begin by simultaneously rummaging through the common warehouse, frantically trying to grab the most useful component tiles to build their spaceship, all in real-time. Once the ships are launched, players encounter dangerous situations while vying for financial opportunities, each hoping to gain the most valuable cargo and finish with as much of their ship still intact as possible. Of course, that’s easier said than done since many hazards will send pieces of your ship, your cargo, and your crew hurling into the depths of space. The goal is to survive the trek, hopefully with at least some of your crew and ship intact, and have at least one credit by the end of the game. (Profit, yay!) Players earn credits by delivering goods, defeating pirates, having the best-looking ship, and reaching their destination before the others.

Godtear-Steamforged Games

2 player, 1 hour

Godtear is a hex based tabletop skirmish board game for two players. With its dynamic scenarios and pre-assembled, colored miniatures, it’s quick to start but hard to master! Godtear is a scenario driven game. Each scenario has its own rules, but there are common rules that form the basis of all scenarios. Each scenario uses the scoring system below in addition to its unique scenario rules.

Mountain Goats-BoardGameTables.com

2-4 players, 10 mins

In Mountain Goats you work to move your goats to the top of 6 different mountains where they can score points as long as they stay there. You can share spaces with other goats on the way up, but there is only room for one goat at the top of each mountain. If someone else’s goat moves to the mountain top, they will kick you off and you’ll have to start your trek over. Mountain Goats isn’t currently available to purchase, but test play it from our Library!

Gen Con Games Recap: Part 1

by: on September 22, 2021  |

Hello my Meeples Peoples! As many of you know, not only did we host our very first Pop-Up Gen Con, but Garrett and I went to Indianapolis to be there in person. Between Pop-Up Gen Con and Gen Con Indy, we have a bunch of new library games that we want to showcase! Because we have so many new ones, this will be broken into two parts for ease of reading. All of these games are currently in our library to play and most are in store to purchase!

Bayou Bash-Wyrd Miniatures

2-4 Players, 30+ Mins

Bayou Bash is a chaotic racing game for 2-4 players filled with rambunctious racers who will do anything to win over the most fans before crossing the finish line. Each player takes control of a racer with unique abilities, and must battle for victory across the customizable track while gaining fans along the way. In Bayou Bash, it’s not about who crosses the finish line first, but who pulls off the craziest tricks during the race!

Taco Bell Party Pack Card Game-Ravensburger

2-6 players, 20 mins

In Taco Bell Party Pack Card Game, players gather various kinds of Taco Bell menu items, including crunchy tacos, bean burritos and Freezes, in an attempt to feed a crew of Taco Bell fans. Each member of a player’s crew comes with specific cravings that need to be sated and doing so earns crave chips — tokens that look like tortilla chips and that have a surprise amount of points to reveal at the end of the game. Players can also use “sauce cards” to help snag food items and win.

Kabuto Sumo-Boardgametables.com

2-4 players, 15 mins

Kabuto Sumo is not currently for sale at the store, but we love it so much we are hoping to be able to carry it soon!

In Kabuto Sumo, you are one of the contending beetles that is battling for supremacy in the ring and your place in the pantheon of legendary wrestlers. The gameplay of Kabuto Sumo resembles the coin-pusher arcade games in which you strategically drop quarters and anxiously anticipate coins cascading off the platform. This game features a similar experience, with you trying to strategically slide pieces onto the board and push the other players out of the ring. It’s an exciting combination of dexterity, strategy, and luck.

Mickey and Friends Food Fight! – The Op Games

3-5 players, 15+ mins

It’s a carefree day at the beach with your favorite Disney friends-that’s it, until it’s time for lunch! Fresh from the Snack Shack, Mickey and Donald race to serve Minnie and Daisy, but Goofy steps in and trips them, and soon enough, everyone is wearing their meals! Get in on a chaos of concessions by tossing hamburgers, shakes, fries and other treats at your friends to clear your food tray the fastest! Earn Mickey Medals for splattering opponents with the most snacks and be the first with three to win the Disney Mickey and Friends Food Fight!

Funkoverse-Funko Games

2-4 players, 60 mins

In the Funkoverse Strategy Game, you combine your favorite characters and go head-to-head in four exciting game scenarios. Use your characters’ unique abilities to gain points and achieve victory! Funkoverse has been around, but we were able to pick up an awesome Game of Thrones one for the library!

Gravwell: 2nd Edition-Renegade Games

1-6 players, 45 mins

In Gravwell, players command spaceships that have been pulled through a black hole, transporting them into a different dimension. With each ship lacking fuel to get home, each player must collect basic elements from surrounding asteroids, using the gravity of the dimension and what little resources they have in order to reach the warp gate that will take them home. But in this dimension, moving ships will travel towards the nearest object, which is usually another ship, and when those objects are moving either forward or backward, reaching the warp gate isn’t always easy. Time is running out to save your crew and your ship! As a grim reminder of the cost of failing to escape, the frozen hulks of dead spacecraft litter the escape route — but with careful card play, you can slingshot past these derelict craft and be the first to escape from the Gravwell!
